Note: I will briefly touch upon creation. My personal stance is in the middle as regardless of how it happened, God is behind it. I will simply make that point to the youth and mention that there are faithful Christians on all sides of this equation. I'll leave it up to them if they wanna chat about that privately afterwards
OK, here's the outline:
God as the Giver of Life
I. God is the Giver of All Life (Genesis 1)
a. God as creator
b. All life comes from God, the originator of life
i. Will quickly mention that there are faithful Christians on both sides of the Creation/Evolution question
c. Adam and Eve – Sin destroys life
II. John: I Come so that they may have life and life to the full…
a. Jesus/God: Restorer of life
i. Eternal Life
ii. Corporeal Life
1. Freedom from sin
a. Galatians (It is for Freedom that we have been set free)
2. Reminder of “Straightforward Redemption”
3. Healing and wholeness
III. We therefore are givers of life…
a. We bring life to people that are dying (both physically and spiritually)
i. Evangelism
ii. Prayer
iii. Healing
iv. Forgiveness
v. Freedom from vicious cycles
Hey Brett,
ReplyDeleteLooks good thus far.
I don't know if it's just me, but what I see in your three points is (1) how God gives life, (2) how Jesus gives life, (3) how the Spirit gives life. We have God who gives us life, but there is the problem with sin then Jesus comes to restore our lives and by the Spirit we give life through the means you mentioned. That's kinda me just thinking out loud, but it seems to work out logically in that manner.
I would say just be careful in that you have a lot in your outline with many big ideas, i.e. creation, sin, redemption. In that regard it would be easy to almost have those be the focal points (not that they aren't important issues because they obviously are), but keep your focus on your main point--God as the giver of life.
thanks Eugene! Huh, I didn't think of it that way, but I like that a lot using the Trinity that way. (haha... using the trinity... that doesn't sound right)
ReplyDeleteI'll have to see if I can integrate that.
Definitely I will try to focus on God Giving Life. Those others (redemptions, sin, etc) are focal points, but they're supporting. What do the rest think?
Yo ho Brett!!
ReplyDeleteI like your ideas alot and your ceativity in your messages. My only thought is that you have so much going on in your outliine. It's hard for me to follow and understand your main point sometimes. I think as long as you keep coming back to God being the giver of life your message will be be clearer.
